Once the season changes and winter is here, one of the best things to do to prepare is to make a winter survival kit for your car. At Ben Bissett Chevrolet, Inc. in Mercer, PA, we like to give the community tips for safe driving and winter preparations.
When you start your winter survival kit, look for something big enough to hold and keep all of your items organized, such as a large box. Place the items in your back seat instead of your trunk just in case you are not able to reach them in the event of an accident. Start your survival kit with things such as blankets, clothes, food, and water.
Once you have those items, you can add chargers for phones, an emergency contact list, flares, sand for traction, a shovel, and road reflectors. It is also good to carry a spare tire and have a tow chain.
